Will Hemorrhoids Go Away On Their Own?

Will hemorrhoids go away on their own is a common question posed by many hemorrhoid sufferers.
Hemorrhoids are often complicated to deal with, and more so if you are suffering from a severe case of hemorrhoids.   Will your hemorrhoids go away on their own or not is a difficult question to answer. It is definitely a relative expression, considering the fact that there are some people who have actually been relieved of their hemorrhoids without having to take any medications or going through courses of over-the-counter agents.

It is the severity of the hemorrhoids that will determine whether or not the condition will subside on its own. As the treatments are relatively easy, with sitz baths and ice packs doing a good job for you, the initial hurdle can be passed by using these means.

However, when hemorrhoids tend to persist for over 10 days and there is no sign of improvement, chances are that you would have to see a doctor. Additionally, if the hemorrhoids go away on their own, chances of coming back increases significantly.

Hemorrhoids Treatment

Hemorrhoids that are more severe in nature might need intensive medical treatment. These treatments would range from some minimally invasive procedures like rubber band ligation that will help in stopping the blood flow to the hemorrhoid vein, to surgeries like hemorrhoidectomy, in which the hemorrhoids are literally removed.

Hemorrhoids can be prevented with a healthy diet and lifestyle. If it is possible for you to prevent it, which in most cases should be possible, go ahead.  There are just a few steps to be taken, including:

  • Drink ample amounts of water to keep your digestive system healthy. Water facilitates digestion and helps in improving your bowel functions.
  • Eat fiber rich foods, including fresh fruits, veggies and lots of whole grains as these will increase bulk and promote healthy bowel movements, which in turn will prevent hemorrhoids.
  • Regular exercise is the best way of improving your health. Your health involves the complete system, which will also help in keeping you fit and strong.
  • Do not sit for long hours in the same position. Be active and maintain a healthy body weight. Constipation and obesity are the root causes of hemorrhoids, both of which must be avoided at all costs.
  • If your family has a medical history of hemorrhoids, you ought to be more careful about the condition as this will increase your chance of developing the condition.
  • As hemorrhoids are an embarrassing condition, people often prefer to keep silent and suffer. This is a wrong thing to do. Hemorrhoids can be treated, though some people might say that it will go in its own, it is wiser to seek medical help when the condition has just occurred. Treatment at that stage will be easier.

If you can avoid the food groups like dairy, wheat, yeast, red meat, sugar, junk food and sweetened juices when you have developed hemorrhoids, you can possibly go without any medication. You must however, include lots of fiber in your diet to ease your bowel movement process, which is crucial for maintaining and coping with the condition.
