Symptoms of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids, technically known as swollen varicose veins of the anus and rectum are a painful condition and it is extremely difficult to cope with the symptoms of hemorrhoids.
Often known as piles, the symptoms of hemorrhoids manifest as a result of prolonged straining during the bowel movements, however, there could be other probable causes too. The condition is prevalent in both the sexes, irrespective of their age. But, it is more common in people who are obese or overweight and in women during their pregnancy. Nevertheless, that does not necessarily mean that thin men and women cannot develop this condition.

The hemorrhoid symptoms are usually triggered by various factors of which body weight, food habits, constipation and lifestyle are a few common factors that you will come across. But there are certain other factors like medications that can cause hemorrhoids.

Some medications are very aggressive in nature that immediately affects the bowel movements. This triggers constipation and eventually leads to hemorrhoids symptoms.

Hemorrhoids, either internal or external are both painful and itchy in nature. The symptoms of internal hemorrhoids are usually much itchier than the external ones because it is difficult to reach and no topical agents can be applied on to these places. It is only through surgery that this type of hemorrhoids is removed for relief. However, before going to the extreme, there are better ways to cope with the symptoms of hemorrhoids.

Many people suffering from hemorrhoids have reported remarkable changes in their condition by making some alterations to their daily routine. Self-care, lifestyle modifications and improved diet can be of great help. Rectal bleeding is one of the common symptoms of internal hemorrhoids, but there could be many other causes of the same, such as some disease that has still not been examined.
It is extremely important to see a doctor once you start experiencing any of the hemorrhoids symptoms, such as pain in the rectal area, itching, blood stools, blood in the tissue paper and irritation. Diagnosing the type of hemorrhoid is also important to determine the course of treatment. While external hemorrhoids, as the name suggests, are visible; internal hemorrhoids can only be felt after examining the rectum.

Hemorrhoids symptoms can be relieved by taking certain self-care measures at home, drinking lots of water, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, taking fiber in natural forms and also in the form of supplements and seeing a doctor from time to time can help you in coping up with the condition. It is also important to keep yourself clean after using the toilet, and dry too.
